Our Whistleblowing Policy

Introduction:

At Susan Roberts Academy (SRA), we strive to maintain a high standard of integrity and accountability. We encourage all members of our community, including staff and volunteers, to voice concerns about unlawful or unethical practices within the academy. Whistleblowing is a critical mechanism for ensuring the safety, legality, and overall well-being of our community.

Definition of Whistleblowing:

Whistleblowing is the reporting by employees or other members of SRA of suspected misconduct, illegal activities, or unethical behaviour within the organization. It differs from a grievance or complaint, which is a formal expression of personal dissatisfaction or unfair treatment.

Point of Contact for Whistleblowing:

The designated point of contact for whistleblowing queries within SRA is the principal Susan Roberts who can be contacted by in person, by phone 07766 761267 or by email susan@susanrobertsacademy.co.uk. An alternative point of contact is Jane Du Toit, who can be reached at jane.dt@susanrobertsacademy.co.uk.

Raising a Whistleblowing Disclosure:

Staff and volunteers wishing to make a whistleblowing disclosure should report their concerns to the principal. The disclosure should provide a detailed description of the alleged misconduct, including any relevant facts, dates, and names of individuals involved.

Encouragement to Disclose Concerns:

SRA strongly encourages all staff to disclose any concerns they may have about misconduct or unethical behaviour within the Academy. Your voice matters, and we value your commitment to maintaining our high standard of integrity.

Protection for Whistleblowers:

SRA is committed to ensuring that whistleblowers are protected from any form of retaliation, including harassment or victimization, for raising concerns. Any retaliation against a whistleblower is a serious violation of this policy and will be subject to disciplinary action.

Investigation and Response:

Upon receiving a whistleblowing disclosure, SRA will promptly investigate the matter. The Academy will ensure a fair and impartial investigation process and will provide feedback to the whistleblower about the outcome of the investigation, while maintaining confidentiality.
