Jason Rees - Head of Singing

Jason holds an MA in Vocal Pedagogy and has been teaching singing for almost 30 years. Jason first trained as a performer at the Guildford School of Acting, where he studied singing with Paul Farrington (Technical Singing Coach at Royal Opera House & Estill Vanguard). He continued his training at London Actor’s Centre, and has worked with some of the profession's top musical directors and voice experts, including Mary Hammond (Vocal Consultant for Cameron Mackintosh & The Really Useful Group) and Gillyanne Kayes (Author of 'Singing and the Actor').

Performing credits include: 'Hamlet'​ at the Brixton Shaw; 'Romeo and Juliet'​ at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre; 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers' at Plymouth Theatre Royal; 'The Fairie Queen'​ at the Royal Opera House, a workshop of a new opera; 'The Ladies Paradise'​ for the RSC; the title role in the UK tour of 'The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn'. Jason created the role of Louie in the UK premiere of Jez Simons'​ 'Hard Times Diner' at the Southwark Playhouse and UK Tour​. Concert work includes, 'Sondheim Tonight'​ at the Barbican Concert Hall, and guest soloist at a benefit concert at the Tristan Bates Theatre.

Jason has taught at many of the industry's leading drama schools, including Italia Conti, Institute of Arts Barcelona, Guildford School of Acting and Sylvia Young Theatre School, and is a member of the British Voice Association.

Jason has completed both Levels 1 & 2 of the Estill Course with Paul Farrington & Anne-Marie Speed.
