Katy Johnson - Teacher of GCSE Dance

Katy is trained in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz, Acrobatics (BATD) and Contemporary. She gained a BA (Hons) Degree in Choreography from Northumbria University, Newcastle in 2011; and then became a Graduate Fellow for the Dance: Choreography degree at Northumbria University.

Katy has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and was a dance teacher and choreographer at French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts in New York, USA. She also gained a scholarship for the Dance Educators Training Institute in Washington DC, USA. During her University training, Katy worked with artists such as Liv Lorent from BalletLorent, Nicole Vivien Watson from Surface Area Dance Theatre, Robby Graham and BalletBoyz.

Katy holds a PGCE in Dance Teaching from the Royal Academy of Dance, London. She graduated with ‘Outstanding’ status and has been teaching in secondary schools for the last 7 years. Katy also runs 3 Elite Dance Companies, choreographing numbers for various shows and dance competitions across London. Katy has also been a school-based Tutor for the Royal Academy of Dance's PGCE Programme for the last 5 years, with all of her trainees graduating with 'Outstanding' status. She has recently joined the Susan Roberts' Academy of Performing Arts as their GCSE Dance teacher and loves what she does!
